Sikar : amidst the cuts in the schemes of the previous government, the nutrition of children is also getting complicated. Along with nutritious food, students in government schools are no longer getting the milk given under the Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana. Under this scheme, milk was prepared by processing milk powder and fed to 70 lakh students studying up to class VIII in government schools and madrasas of the state every day. Milk is not being given to students from the new academic session. The reason for this is the non-supply of milk powder.
The education department has informed the state government about this about two months ago, but no decision has been taken yet. During the previous government, in the academic session 2023-24, milk powder was supplied to government schools as per the requirement of the entire session. During this time, the state government has also announced to provide coarse grains to government school students, but now the students of government schools are neither getting milk nor coarse grains. On the other hand, Education Minister Madan Dilawar says that children are not liking powdered milk, so this scheme will be changed. Coarse grains are being considered. However, no orders have been issued yet.
BJP provided milk two days a week, Congress provided milk six days a week
During the reign of the BJP government in the state from 2013-18, students were given hot fresh cow milk on two days a week, Tuesday and Friday. After this, during the reign of the Congress government, on 29 November 2022, the name of the scheme was changed to Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana. Also, except for Sunday holiday, milk prepared from milk powder was started to be given on the remaining six days. Nothing can be said about milk under the Bal Gopal scheme in government schools. Whatever statement the Education Minister has given in this regard, it will be the same. Whatever instructions are received, they will be followed.
Teachers go from house to house to promote government facilities to increase enrollment in government schools. Milk is not being supplied from the new session, this is not fair to the children of poor families. Milk powder is not being supplied in most schools. The announcement of distribution of coarse grains by the Education Minister is a good initiative, but it has not been started yet. The coarse grain scheme is better than milk, the government should start this scheme soon.
