ANRF fund of Rs 1 lakh crore should be used to increase innovation in the country: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, November 21 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday urged the industry to utilize the Rs 1 lakh crore Research National Research Foundation (ANRF) fund to enhance the innovation and research ecosystem in the country.

Addressing people at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) event in the national capital, Goyal said that under this government initiative, talented youth should also be made aware of the mindset of experimenting and developing new ideas.

Goyal said that this initiative will help India develop a research and development ecosystem and will increase the interest of industry leaders in it. He requested the participants to give suggestions to make the process of receiving funds result-oriented and time-efficient.

Goyal stressed that initiatives taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as Digital India, Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana-Saubhagya, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), Ayushman Bharat and others have brought rapid change in India.

The Union Minister appreciated FICCI for having the “Excellence in Clean Industry Parks” category in the awards for promoting cleanliness in industrial parks across the country and said that cleanliness is closely linked to economic growth, job creation and employability.

Apart from this, Goyal urged the industry leaders to actively work with the government to decriminalize business related rules and reduce the burden of compliance, thereby improving ease of doing business.

FICCI has to become a feedback system to help the Center do its work better.

Stressing the need to raise quality standards in the country, the Minister urged FICCI to utilize its technical committees and appoint a representative from each industry to maintain the standards.
