Alwar : Out of the four bears brought from Mount Abu to Sariska Sanctuary in Alwar, Rajasthan, three have escaped. These bears were used to eating delicious food in hotels, due to which they left Sariska. The forest department had arranged bears for tourists in addition to tigers, of these four bears, two were male and two were female. But within 1 year, three have gone away. Although two are under the watch of the forest department, they are not ready to come back.
These four bears were brought to Alwar from Mount Abu hill station
Actually, everyone knows about Mount Abu hill station located in Sirohi district of Rajasthan. Four bears from the forest here were shifted to Sariska in April last year. These bears had a very strange habit that they liked spicy and delicious food. In all the hotels and dhabas in Mount Abu, the leftover food is thrown in the forest. These bears eat this food with great pleasure from the forest, sometimes bears even come inside the dhabas and hotels. This was the reason that for a long time the local hotel operators and people had asked the forest department to remove these bears.
The forest department released bears in the sanctuary for tourists, but they left from there
To treat these bears, the forest department removed them from Mount Abu and brought them to Sariska in Alwar. Tourists also liked it and saw the bears for a few days, but after a few days three bears left the Sariska area. One of them reached Karauli district, about 250 km away, and started looking for food in the residential colony near the forest. It also attacked people several times. The same bear reached Harsoli area near Sariska. It troubled people there for several days, later it was tranquilized and now it has been released in Karauli area. The third female bear also left the Sariska forest along with these two bears, it is not known yet.
Radio collars fitted to bears
The forest department has fitted radio collars on two male bears, but the whereabouts of the third one are not known. Regarding this entire incident, experts say that all four bears stayed in Mount Abu for a long time. They got used to eating delicious hotel food there. It is possible that this is the reason why they left the Sariska forest. The two bears that have left the forest have come to settlements and attacked people many times. The forest department has to keep a constant watch on these two bears.
