Jodhpur : Jodhpur State-of-the-art indigenous technology based ‘Kavach’ system has been developed to prevent collision between two trains on the railway track. Indian Railways will install ‘Kavach’ system in all trains across the country in a phased manner by the year 2030. North Western Railway and Jodhpur Railway Division will also be included in these. It has not been decided yet when it will be installed in the trains of Jodhpur division.
Considering its usefulness after the expansion of the Kavach system till March 2022, steps were taken to develop Kavach version 4.0. On July 16, RDSO approved Kavach 4.0. In September this year, Kavach 4.0 has been installed and made operational in the 108 kilometer railway section between Kota and Sawai Madhopur.
Established as a pilot project in 2014-15
● In 2014-15, Kavach system was installed as a pilot project in 250 km of rail route on South Central Railway.
● First field trials on passenger trains were conducted in 2015-16.
● Kavach specific version 3.2 was finalized after upgrades in 2017-18.
● RDSO approved three vendors on the basis of certification in 2018-19
● In July 2020, ‘Kavach’ was declared the national ATP system.
