Ghaziabad, 30 November (IANS). NCRTC has launched the Assistive Devices Distribution Campaign for Divyangjan living along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.
The campaign is being organized under the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This is the first campaign to distribute assistive devices to disabled people. The event was organized at Ghaziabad RRTS station, where NCRTC Director (Finance) Namita Mehrotra and Director (System & Operation) Navneet Kaushik distributed smart canes, hearing aids and crutches to around 130 Divyangjan.
For these PwDs, this initiative will not only promote mobility and accessibility but will also play an important role in empowerment and employment. This program is helping persons with disabilities to achieve easier living and mobility, which will enable these people to participate more actively in society and employment. Dedicated pathways have been created at all RRTS stations to assist visually impaired passengers. Guide them on the shortest and most intuitive routes to reach key areas.
Additionally, specially designed giant lifts have been installed for the movement of not only wheelchairs for the disabled but also stretchers to meet the medical needs in case of emergency. Ramps, lifts and escalators at the entry and exit points of the stations have been strategically placed to provide seamless access to the concourse and platform levels, ensuring an easy and hassle-free journey for all passengers including the elderly, children and women. To be sure.
In Namo Bharat trains, seats are reserved for women, elderly and disabled people in every coach. Apart from this, a train attendant has been deployed in every train to assist the passengers.
