The puja plate must contain Roli, rice, incense, lamp and flowers along with Doob. After this, clay idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha, Kartikeya are also placed on the mat and Durva is kept. There is also a custom of making an altar of sand or white clay and making all the deities sit there. After decorating the plate, Arghya is offered to the moon. Then after seeing the moon the fast is broken by drinking sweet water from the husband’s hands.
