Mohali, 4 December (IANS). Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh reacted to the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday. Speaking to news agency IANS, he said that this is a serious and condemnable incident. Expressing concern over the incident, he said that the Punjab Police, showing promptness, foiled the incident and the accused was arrested.
He said that it was a very bad incident, but Punjab Police foiled it immediately. The accused has been arrested and further investigation will be conducted. No culprit will be spared. Our government is fully committed to stopping such incidents. At the same time, when asked about the farmers’ movement, the minister said that the government will make every possible effort to provide the rights of the farmers.
He said that our farmers are very important for us and we support them at every step. The Punjab government assured that the problems of the farmers will be taken seriously and their rights will be protected.
Let us tell you that on Wednesday, a person tried to attack Sukhbir Singh Badal at the entrance of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. CCTV footage of which has also surfaced, it can be clearly seen in the video that the person tries to attack Sukhbir Badal fatally. But, he escapes safely as the bullet hits the wall. During this, the people and security personnel present at the spot catch the person.
After the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal, his security has been tightened. For their security, about 200 policemen including one AIG, two SPs, two DSPs have been deployed in plain clothes.
