Australia desperate to make a comeback in pink-ball Test in Adelaide: McSweeney

Adelaide, 28 November (IANS). Opening batsman Nathan McSweeney said his Test debut against India in Perth was like nothing he had ever seen before in his playing career, especially in terms of the quality of bowling he faced.

On his debut, McSweeney was out LBW twice by Jasprit Bumrah as Australia lost to India by 295 runs and trailed the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series 1-0.

“In Shield cricket, we see players playing day and night, get used to facing them and when you play international players, we haven’t experienced anything like that,” McSweeney told 9News Adelaide. So it’s a bit of a different, unique action and it’s a bit difficult to understand some of the cues, but I’m looking forward to scoring runs. I’m looking forward to getting another chance in Adelaide.”

McSweeney, who captains South Australia in domestic cricket, also reflected on being given his debut cap by former coach Darren Lehmann, something he is proud of. He said Australia was desperate to make a comeback in the pink-ball Test starting in Adelaide from December 6. The upcoming match will also be the second time that McSweeney will play a pink-ball Test match.

“That’s probably the game in a nutshell, the ups and downs. My family was there to watch my cap presentation, and then to go out there and not play how we wanted to play, there’s no doubt that it was Was disappointing. Everyone is really keen to get back to the nets, train well and be really well prepared, so as an opener or a batsman you have to score runs, so for me this week. It is important to improve your preparation Is.”

“(Just) have to go out there and try to score some runs for my country and if I do that I won’t have any worries. I’m very excited. Everyone talks about the Adelaide Test,” the opening batsman said. , and I’m looking forward to going out there and doing really well for us.”
