Bhopal 12 December (IANS). Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath has raised questions on the Ayushman scheme and said that this scheme is becoming a white elephant.
Regarding exclusion of many diseases from treatment in private hospitals in the state, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that the Ayushman scheme is gradually becoming a white elephant. In Madhya Pradesh, 196 diseases have been excluded from treatment in private hospitals. On the other hand, there is no proper treatment system in government hospitals. Malaria, cataract operation, diseases of small children, many diseases of the elderly have been excluded from treatment in private hospitals.
Referring to the problems of the weak and poor class and the health services of the state, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath said, “Ayushman card holders are facing trouble in getting treatment due to a large number of diseases being excluded from treatment in private hospitals. Madhya Pradesh first India has been at the bottom in terms of health services since 2005 and the ineffectiveness of Ayushman card on top of that is a matter of utmost concern for public health.”
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister, citing the rights of the common people, said that protecting health and getting good treatment is the fundamental right of every citizen. The Chief Minister should think seriously about this matter and by forming a committee, many diseases should be reopened in private hospitals for treatment. Strict action should definitely be taken against the hospitals which are misusing the Ayushman card, but this does not mean that the needy citizens of Madhya Pradesh should be deprived of treatment.
It may be noted that the state government has excluded many diseases from the Ayushman scheme. The former Chief Minister has raised questions on this step of the government.
