New Delhi, December 5 (IANS). The Assam government on Wednesday announced a complete ban on serving and eating beef in restaurants, hotels, public functions and other community places. BJP MP Dilip Saikia called it a historic decision.
Dilip Saikia said that this can be called a historic decision, because beef had become a widely debated topic in Assam politics for the last few days. During the assembly by-elections in Assam, BJP was accused in an assembly that it had obtained people’s votes by feeding them beef, which was a baseless allegation. BJP and Beef have no relation with each other.
He said, “The Assam government will take action against those who serve beef biryani in the name of chicken biryani in public places. There is great reverence for mother cow in the Indian Sanatan culture. Cow promotion is the responsibility of all of us. It is also a natural obligation. Therefore, the decision taken by the Assam Cabinet today is not an attack on any religion or religion, it is a unique effort to take forward the Indian Sanatan culture and tradition. I welcome this decision.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rashid Alvi said, “A large community in the country has great respect for cows and worships them. That’s why the ban has been imposed. Cow slaughter should be banned not just in one state but in the entire country.” The Chief Minister of Assam has been in office for so long, why has the ban not been imposed in Assam yet? How did the Chief Minister suddenly think of this and impose the ban?
BJP national spokesperson R.P. “The entire country welcomes this step of the Assam government and we hope that other states will also follow it,” Singh said.
