New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). Group-3 restrictions have been imposed to reduce air pollution in Delhi. Private construction and demolition work has been banned in Delhi. Also, a ban has been imposed on the operation of BS 3 petrol and BS 4 diesel LMVs (4 wheelers). 84 teams of transport department and 280 teams of traffic police have been deployed to enforce the ban.

A fine of Rs 20,000 can be imposed for violating these restrictions. Delhi government says that it will strictly enforce these restrictions. Public transport is being promoted in Delhi to reduce pollution. For this, 106 shuttle bus service has been started. Metro will make 60 additional trips. Teams of the concerned department will conduct continuous inspections to monitor the stoppage of construction works. The time for mechanized cleaning of roads has been extended. 65 MRS machines are being operated by MCD for cleaning the roads. Now their timings have been increased from 6 am to 4 pm.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Friday that as per the order of CAQM, it has been decided to implement the third phase of restrictions in Delhi. A strong monitoring system has been prepared for its implementation. If anyone violates this, a fine of Rs 20,000 will be imposed. Private construction and demolition activities are being banned inside Delhi.

He said the 200 mobile anti-smog guns that are spraying Delhi’s roads are now running in three shifts. A nodal officer has been appointed in the war room for its monitoring. There will be a ban on private construction and demolition work, as well as earthwork for digging and filling including boring and drilling works, piling work, laying of sewer line, water line, drainage and electric cabling etc. through trench system, brick masonry. Work of RMC, operation of RMC batching plant, major welding and gas-cutting operations have been restricted.

Apart from these, painting, polishing and varnishing work, work of cement, plaster and other coatings, cutting, grinding and laying of stones and other flooring materials, water proofing work (except chemical water proofing), private road construction are also not allowed. . Moving, loading or unloading of dust generating materials like cement, fly-ash, brick, sand, morum, pebbles, broken stone etc. is also prohibited anywhere inside or outside a project site.

There will also be a ban on movement of vehicles carrying construction material on unpaved roads, transportation of demolition waste etc. However, minor welding activities will be permitted for mechanical, electrical and plumbing works. Along with this, minor indoor repair and maintenance works are allowed. Diesel LCV medium goods carriers of BS-3 and below which are registered outside Delhi will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Vehicles related to essential goods and services are exempted from this. Among the interstate buses coming from NCR, only electric buses, CNG buses and BS-6 diesel buses have been allowed to ply. Besides, buses with All India Tourist Permit and tempo travelers have also been exempted. 84 teams of transport department and 280 teams of traffic police have been deployed to enforce the ban.
