Barmer : IRS Shankar Jangid is on a visit to South Korea to represent India in the International Water Week. Shankar Jangid, resident of Barmer, is currently working as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
International Water Week will be held in South Korea till November 16. Representatives of about 60 countries, ministers, deputy ministers, representatives of international organizations and ambassadors of different countries have participated in it. This time the theme of International Water Week has been kept as sustainable water management and water disaster risk management for humans and nature.
International Water Week is organized to strengthen global partnership for sustainable development and potential cooperation. As a representative of India, Shankar Jangid shared his views about water conservation and management in the International Water Week. He informed in detail about the innovations and upcoming plans for water conservation in India. In the coming days also, various aspects related to water conservation will be highlighted by him.
Exchange of views on water management
During International Water Week, representatives from different countries share ideas on the theme ‘Drinking Water Safety, Sanitation and Partnership in Socio-Economic Development’. It aims to share knowledge and experiences on practical solutions to global water challenges at different levels. During this, solutions to the challenges faced, methods of implementation, case studies are presented. The World Water Challenge is an international competition organized by the Ministry of Environment of Korea. Organized by Korea Water Forum for Water Solutions. It is held annually in conjunction with Korea International Water Week, as a follow-up activity to the 7th World Water Forum in 2015.
