Barmer : An elderly man going to collect pension on Barmer-Jalore State Highway was crushed by a speeding Fortuner. Due to this the old man died on the spot.
After the accident, the Fortuner car got stuck in the sand, whose driver was beaten up by the crowd present there and the car was vandalized. The police reached the spot and intervened and took the driver to the hospital. The incident took place in Saranu village, State Highway, Sadar police station area of Barmer district.
DSP Ramesh Kumar Sharma told – Ghazi Khan (65), son of Fani Khan, resident of Saranu Panji, along with his nephew and brother had reached Saranu village station on Barmer-Jalore State Highway to collect pension. Were waiting for the bus there. Meanwhile, at around 4 pm, a Fortuner going from Barmer towards Sindhari hit and crushed Ghazi Khan, who was standing on the roadside to save a bike rider.
The uncontrollable car entered the bushes and got stuck in the mound. After the accident, angry people started brutally beating the driver. On information, ASI Bhanwarlal along with police reached the spot. The driver was saved from the crowd and sent to the hospital in a private vehicle.
