Jaipur : Giving priority to the safety of women and children, Rajasthan Government has launched a new initiative called “Kalika Patrolling Unit”. Women policemen included in the unit will be seen patrolling with blue uniform, black helmet and scooter.
Escape from black jacket police in Rajasthan
Rajasthan Additional Director General of Police Malini Aggarwal said that in the initial phase, a total of 250 patrolling teams have been formed, in which each team will have four women policemen. A target has been set to increase their number to 500 teams in future. 35 units will be deployed in the capital Jaipur, while 10 units each will operate in other districts of the state.
Scooters and helmets will also be painted black
This special unit will work under the leadership of senior women police officers. Malini Aggarwal said that the main objective of this initiative is to stop eve-teasing and other crimes in public places. The uniform of the unit has been specially designed so that it can be easily identified. Their scooters and helmets will be black, and the uniforms will have a neon monogram on the back.
Finance Minister Diya Kumari had announced this
The patrolling unit will be linked with a special police control room and helpline number, so that in case of any emergency, people can seek immediate help. The initiative was announced by state finance minister Diya Kumari during the budget session in June this year. He described it as an important step towards curbing crimes against women and children in the state. Along with this, the state government has also promised to strengthen the Nirbhaya Special Women Squad and install CCTV cameras in public places. This step will prove helpful in ensuring a safe environment for women and children and will bring positive changes in the society.
