Jaipur : If you are befriending an unknown woman or girl, then be cautious. Many honeytrap gangs are active in many areas including the capital Jaipur. These gangs use women and girls to trap people and then extort huge amounts of money from them. Once trapped, people can lose their life savings. Most of the victims of honeytrap do not register a case due to fear of social stigma, but when they have to face huge loss, they file a complaint with the police. Police officials say that if you become a victim of honeytrap, a complaint should be lodged immediately, so that appropriate action can be taken. These gangs target big businessmen, influential people, youth, elderly and government officials so that they can extort huge sums of money from them. This is not limited to Jaipur only, but such gangs are active in the entire state.
Some matters that constitute a warning
Case 1- In July this year, Ramnagariya police station arrested a woman and her associates. The gang honeytraps an influential young man. The woman trapped the young man by calling continuously and called him to a deserted place. There the woman performed obscene acts with the young man, during which other members of the gang started making videos. Later, they blackmailed the youth and extorted Rs 70,000. A few days later, the gang again demanded Rs 5 lakh, then the youth lodged a police complaint.
Case 2- This year, a businessman’s wife lodged a complaint at Shiprapath police station. A girl made her husband drink intoxicants and made an obscene video and then extorted Rs 10 lakh. Later, the girl also took more money and jewellery. Now she is demanding Rs 10 lakh more, due to which the husband becomes depressed.
Case 3- In 2018, a PWD officer was framed by a gang. The gang included a father, his daughter and others. They extorted lakhs of rupees from the officer by threatening to implicate him in a false rape case. The officer gave a total of Rs 10 lakh in different installments till 2021. Ultimately, when the gang asked for more money, the officer lodged a police report.
Case 4- Bhatta Basti police arrested a woman for extorting Rs 40 lakh from a 74-year-old man. The woman trapped the old man and kept extorting money from him by threatening to implicate him in a false rape case. When the woman asked for more money, the old man informed the police. The police arrested the woman.
