New Delhi, November 24 (IANS). Congress has appointed new office bearers ahead of the assembly elections to be held in the national capital early next year.
Party general secretary (organisation) K.C. The press release issued by Venugopal on Sunday said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has made Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin, MLA from Mangalore assembly seat of Uttarakhand, the AICC in-charge of Delhi in place of Deepak Babaria.
Congress has also constituted a screening committee to select candidates for the assembly elections. Meenakshi Natarajan will be the chairperson of the committee while Imran Masood and Pradeep Narwal have been appointed as members of the committee.
All appointments will come into effect with immediate effect.
The press release stated that AICC in-charge, State Congress President and AICC General Secretary in-charge of Delhi will be ex-officio members of the screening committee.
Delhi Assembly elections are likely to be held in February next year. At present, Congress has neither any MLA nor any MP in Delhi. The party will try to change this situation in the assembly elections.
