Jaipur : The Central Government has extended the scheme of distribution of free grains to the poor by four years. That means the poor will continue to get free food grains till 2028. The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the continuation of supply of fortified rice under all government schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) from July 2024 to December 2028. 4.5 crore people of Rajasthan will benefit from this. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the press conference that the rice fortification initiative will continue with 100 per cent funding as part of PMGKAY (food subsidy). The Center has allocated Rs 17,082 crore for the supply of fortified rice under all welfare schemes. This will benefit 80 crore people of the country.

Get E-KYC done by 31st October

Food security beneficiaries now have only time till 31st October to get the e-KYC done in time. Otherwise the beneficiaries will be left out of the scheme. The Bhajanlal government of the state can remove the name of such beneficiary from the food security list on the orders of the Supreme Court and the instructions of the Government of India. Those who have not got the e-KYC done before time.
