Jodhpur : this time air pollution has increased even before Diwali. In the last 24 hours, the Air Quality Index (AQI) came near 150 in many cities including Jodhpur and at some places the AQI crossed 200 micrograms per cubic meter. Highest air pollution was recorded in western Rajasthan. Here AQI reached 217 in Nagaur. AQI in Jodhpur was 167. Municipal Corporation Jodhpur has started spraying with water smog guns to clean the air. According to experts, if strong winds do not blow, air pollution will increase further. Air pollution will be highest during Diwali.
slow wind speed
According to pollution control experts, the air was clean due to monsoon from June to September. AQI remained below 100. At many places the AQI was being recorded below 50, but as soon as the monsoon left, the western wind started blowing. The wind speed has also slowed down, due to which the pollutants in the air are increasing. Most of the pollution is caused by small particles i.e. particulate matter, which contains 2.5 to 10 microgram particles of dust particles, gas particles, carbon particles, metal particles and other substances. Which cause harm by entering the body through breathing.
This problem occurs due to high AQI
AQI-Quality-Impact
0 to 50 – Good wind – Very little impact
51 to 100 – Satisfactory air – Minor problem for sensitive people
101 to 200 – Moderate level air – problems for asthma and lung and heart patients.
201 to 300 – Bad air – Prolonged exposure causes respiratory problems for all.
301 to 400 – Very bad – risk of respiratory disease due to excessive exposure.
401 to 500 – Very bad – serious danger to already sick people
AQI of four cities is above 200
