Jaipur : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started preparations to win the by-elections to be held on six assembly seats of Rajasthan. Today, state BJP president Madan Rathore is coming to Sachin Pilot’s stronghold Tonk to find a winning candidate for the Deoli-Uniyara seat. This seat has been slipping from the hands of BJP in the last two elections. In such a situation, today Rathore will hold meetings with district officials in different sessions to find a winning formula.
Pilot-Meena duo challenge
The biggest challenge for BJP on this seat with SC, SC and Gurjar majority voters is the pair of Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and Harish Meena. Not only did these two leaders win two consecutive elections from Tonk and Deoli in the 2018 and 2023 elections, but Harish Meena has also won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. At present, the caste equations of the Deoli-Uniyara seat also seem to be increasing the difficulties of BJP. In such a situation, Madan Rathore is coming to Tonk on Friday to look for a winning candidate. Obviously, today we will also see a show of strength by those seeking tickets from Deoli-Uniyara.
These leaders will also be present in the meeting
Madan Rathore will hold an organisational meeting of BJP in Krishi Auditorium of Tonk today. In this meeting, further strategy will be made by mainly discussing the Deoli-Uniyara assembly by-election. Along with the state president, party’s state in-charge Radhamohan Agarwal, co-in-charge Vijaya Rahatkar, state general secretary Damodar Agarwal, Jitendra Gothwal, in-charge minister Hiralal Nagar, Om Prakash Bhadana, senior leader Prabhu Lal Saini, Water Supply Minister Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary and Niwai MLA Ram Sahay Verma will also be present in this meeting.
By-election due to MLA becoming MP
Harish Chandra Meena, the current MP from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, won the 2023 assembly elections from this seat for the second consecutive time. This seat has fallen vacant after his resignation. He is considered to be from the Sachin Pilot faction. The history of this seat, dominated by Meena, Gurjar, Mali, Dhakad and SC voters, from 1993 to 2023 elections, was that the party whose MLA is elected from this seat, forms the government in Rajasthan. Prabhulal Saini of BJP won the MLA election from this seat in 2003, Ram Narayan Meena of Congress in 2008, Rajendra Gurjar of BJP in 2013 and Harish Meena of Congress in 2018 and 2023.
Tonk has more than 12 ticket contenders
There is a BJP government in Rajasthan and for the Deoli-Uniyara seat, more than a dozen names have come up, including former MLA Rajendra Gurjar, Vijay Bainsala, Prabhulal Saini, Naresh Bansal, Vikram Gurjar, Sitaram Poswal, Alka Gurjar, Rajaram Gurjar, Shivji Ram Jat, Rajkumar Meena, Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria. But on the ground, only former MLA Rajendra Gurjar can be a winning face for the BJP, who has won the only election from this seat for the BJP after delimitation.
Total Voters in Deoli-Uniyara
There are about 3 lakh 1 thousand 575 caste voters in Deoli Uniara assembly seat. Among them, the number of ST-Meena voters is between 65 to 63 thousand. Similarly, there are 57 to 61 thousand SC voters, 54 to 57 thousand Gurjar voters, 11 to 12 thousand Mali voters, 14 to 15 thousand Brahmin voters, 14 to 15 thousand Jat voters, about 8 thousand Vaishya voters, about 4 thousand Rajput voters, about 14 thousand Muslim voters and about 55 to 58 thousand voters of other castes.
No significant issue appears to be
There is no significant issue in this area. Elections are fought on the basis of development and caste. While BJP bets on Gujjars, Congress bets on Meena caste. Independents and other parties have never had any special influence on this seat. Only rebel candidates of BJP and Congress have been influencing the equations.
