Jaipur : Bhajanlal government will now insure camels, sheep and goats along with cows and buffaloes. The Animal Husbandry Department has prepared guidelines for this. About 21 lakh animals will be insured free of cost in Rajasthan. After getting the insurance, in case of death of the animal, the cattle owner will get Rs 40 thousand for the big animal. The animals will be insured for one year. Under the Chief Minister Mangala Animal Insurance Scheme, the department has created two units for large and small animals. Cows and buffaloes along with camels are included in the large animals, while sheep and goats are included in the small animals. On the death of big animals, the cattle herder will get Rs 40 thousand, while 10 sheep and goats each have been included in one unit of small animals. That means, cattle herders will get an insurance of Rs 40 thousand on one unit.
The scheme will be operated by the State Insurance and Provident Fund Department on trust mode for one year. About 12 lakh cattle farmers of the state will benefit from this scheme. Secretary of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Cow Husbandry Department, Samit Sharma said that the Chief Minister will soon implement the Mangala Animal Insurance Scheme. This will provide support to cattle herders.
Will have to apply online
To get their animals insured, cattle owners will have to apply online. The department is preparing separate software for this. To get the animal insured, it is necessary for the animal owner to have a public base. After getting the insurance, the insurance amount will be payable in case of natural or accidental death of the animal or in any other way.
