Barmer : Police took major action on complaints of illegal mining of gravel in Luni river and tributaries in Balotra district of Rajasthan. Police seized 16 dumpers filled with gravel on the border of Pali-Balotra district late on Thursday night. Along with this, a Scorpio car which was escorting these dumpers was also confiscated. Police also detained 9 accused from the spot. During this action, the drivers of the dumper tried to escape by dropping gravel on the road, but they could not succeed due to the police cordon from all sides.
Supply was to be from Pali to Jodhpur-Nagaur
Dumpers filled with gravel seized in Balotra were to be supplied to Jodhpur, Barmer and Nagaur. Due to the strictness of the police in Balotra, the mining mafia started filling gravel from Sukdi river in the villages of Samuja, Dhindhas etc. of Pali district and at night, keeping a watch on the police, they used to leave Balotra district with a bang. After receiving continuous complaints, the police tightened its grip on the Luni river in the district, but questions started being raised due to the passage of vehicles filled with gravel at night. In such a situation, SP Kundan Kanwaria, District Special Team and special teams of three police stations carried out this action.

District Special Team on illegal gravel transportation, police team of Kalyanpur, Samdadi and Siwana police stations, strategized under the leadership of Siwana CO Neeraj Sharma and carried out this action. After receiving information about illegal mining late at night, the police raided several places simultaneously, which created a stir among the mining mafia. Many mining mafias emptied the gravel on the road, abandoned their vehicles and ran away. After the sudden action, all 16 dumpers and one Scorpio were seized. Nine accused were detained there.
