Jaipur : BJP government has changed the rules for recruitment of Safai Karamcharis. Now applicants will have to have experience of cleaning work in the urban body itself. Only the authorized officer of the CEO, Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner level of the body will issue the experience certificate. Without this, one will not be eligible for the recruitment process. Whereas, in the previous Congress government, experience of cleaning work in any company, commercial mall or other institution was also accepted. Due to this, about 10 lakh applications were received for some posts at that time. There were allegations that this was done to oblige the loved ones. The matter reached the court. The BJP government has mainly removed this provision of the previous Congress government. The department will recruit for about 24 thousand posts. The Department of Autonomous Governance has issued Rajasthan Municipality (Safai Karamchari Service) Revised Rules, 2024. The matter of Safai Karamcharis was also raised during the budget session in the Assembly.
Strike and resentment, then change
Recently, after the strike of sanitation workers and the displeasure of the Valmiki community, the government had stopped the recruitment process. There was a demand to give priority to the people of the Valmiki community in the recruitment.
One year experience of cleaning in the body is necessary
One year of experience in sanitation, cleanliness, sewerage cleaning in the urban body itself will be required. Minimum age will be 18 years and maximum 40 years. Only the authorized officer of the CEO, Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner level of the body will be able to issue the experience certificate. Even if it is on contract or on a contract. The certificate given by the contractor will be counter signed by the Commissioner or authorized Deputy Commissioner (Personnel).
Notification issued after amending the sweeper service rules
A notification has been issued amending the Safai Karamchari Service Rules. Experience of working in a municipal body will be necessary for applicants working on contract. Only the commissioner or other competent officer will be authorized to issue the certificate.
