Jaipur : The Supreme Court is hearing a case of marital rape related to a husband having relations with a wife under the age of 15. The state government has submitted an application in this case and requested to hear Rajasthan’s side as well. After which the Supreme Court has given time for hearing on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court is hearing the case of Hrishikesh Sahu vs State of Karnataka and others on this issue. The state government filed an petition on Monday to become an intervener in this. The case is to be heard on Tuesday. Additional Advocate General Shivmangal Sharma said in the petition filed on behalf of the state government that according to the Indian Penal Code, if the husband has sexual relations with his wife who is more than 15 years of age, then it is not rape.
