Jaipur : Bhajan Lal government of the state is engaged in promoting horticulture. As a result of this, Rs 100 crore will be spent this year under the National Horticulture Mission. Targets have been sought from the districts and work will be started soon. Let us tell you that last year (previous Congress government) only Rs 62 crore was spent. This time the government has increased the money on the demand of the farmers. Under the National Horticulture Mission, horticultural crops – fruits, vegetables, spices and flowers and medicinal and aromatic plants are being promoted in the state. This is the reason that this time the grant given to the farmers has been increased by about Rs 40 crore. Let us tell you that in the approval received under the Center’s Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, Rs 100 crore or more will be spent in 9 states including Rajasthan. In this too, Rs 133.33 (each state) crore has been approved for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, which is the highest among other states. While Rs 100-100 crore has been approved for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The big thing about the National Horticulture Mission in the state is that in most of the programs related to horticulture, 40 to 50 percent of the total cost is being given as subsidy to the farmer so that the farmer can get maximum benefit. It remains to be seen that this year, in the hope of a good monsoon, the farmer will pay more attention to horticulture and there will be hope of good production.
