Sawai Madhopur : Although Ranthambore is generally known as the city of tigers, but the forests of Ranthambore are home to tigers, tigresses and other wildlife as well as Lord Bholenath. Many places are in the middle of the forest, but due to being associated with the mythological temple and the faith of the people of the city, a crowd of devotees gather here every year in the month of Sawan to have the darshan of Bhole. Amareshwar Mahadev
Amareshwar Mahadev Temple is in the range of Ranthambore National Park. It is about 7 km from the railway station. Situated in the middle of the forest on a high hill of Ranthambore, it is the center of faith of the people. Amareshwar Mahadev is said to be about 1200 years old. People say that it is as old as the Ranthambore Fort. Years ago, it was impossible to reach the temple due to dense forest here, but at present one has to walk only one km inside the forest area. Many religious events are held here during Shivaratri and Sawan. During the rainy season, this temple is a major picnic spot for the city dwellers due to the charming waterfalls, streams and beautiful trees around it. There is also a mythological pond here, where devotees take bath.
Jhojheshwar Mahadev
There is a temple of Jhojeshwar Mahadev in the dense forest area in the Phalodi range of Ranthambore Tiger Project. A beautiful waterfall flows here during the rainy season. Hundreds of tourists come here for picnics and outings. There is an ancient idol of Lord Shiva in the temple. Many religious programs like Kirtan, Kaanvad Yatra etc. are organized here during the Shravan festival.
Bhuteshwar Mahadev Temple
The Bhuteshwar Mahadev temple located in Awasan Mandal is very old. It does not come under the area of Ranthambore Tiger Project at present, but if historians are to be believed, this temple also has a deep connection with Ranthambore. In ancient times, it was considered a center of Tantric practice. Yogi Mahatmas who worship in Ranthambore also come here for darshan and worship. Many types of religious events are also held here during the month of Shravan.
Kamleshwar Mahadev
Kamleshwar Mahadev Temple, situated on the border of Sawaimadhopur and Bundi district, is a pilgrimage site of the medieval era. This temple with a high peak in the city style was built by Hamir’s father Jaitrasingh in Vikram Samvat 1345 on the banks of the Chakhan river. This temple is 45 km away from Sawaimadhopur district headquarters. It is also called Mini Khajuraho. The temple has carved stones and various postures of yoga, asanas and music art have been shown in the form of various statues. There are statues of various gods and goddesses around it. There are three ponds in Kamleshwar Mahadev. A large number of devotees come here on the Chaturdashi and Amavasya of Krishna Paksha including Sawan. Crowds of devotees gather to take bath in the pond on Somvati Chaturdashi or Amavasya.
Arneshwar Temple
This temple is situated in Bhagwatgarh near the social forestry forest area of Ranthambore Tiger Project. It is also known as Shiv Kund Dham. Fairs are organized on Shivratri and Kartik Purnima. Fairs are also organized every month on the Chaturthi of every Amavasya. Bathing in Shiv Kund is believed to cure skin diseases. Apart from this, there are thousands of Kadab trees here, which are rarely found in such large numbers at other places. It is a big center of faith for the devotees. Many religious events are held here during the month of Sawan. Sholeshwar Mahadev Temple is located at an altitude of about 450 feet in zone two of the Aropati Range of Ranthambore Tiger Project. This place looks very beautiful and attractive in the rain. Hundreds of devotees and Kanwar pilgrims come here during the month of Sawan. However, due to being located in the main forest of Ranthambore, it is necessary to take permission from the forest department for this in advance. Tigers and many other wild animals roam here.
