Big action by ED and ACB regarding Rajasthan mid-day meal scam, important documents found

Jaipur : Enforcement Directorate (ED) has found evidence of irregularities in the 1700 crore Mid-Day Meal Scheme of schools. Last year ED had raided many places, after investigation, the possibility of fake firms and other irregularities has been raised. ED has written a letter to ACB for their in-depth investigation. Now ACB has filed a preliminary investigation report (PE) and has started collecting documents from Rajasthan State Cooperative Consumer Federation (Confed) and Education Department. After identifying the names of responsible officials, ACB can seek permission from the state government to register a case.

Under the PC Act, permission from the government is necessary to investigate a case of misuse of power. After identifying the responsible officer, it will be decided from which department permission should be taken for investigation under the PC Act. Only after this an FIR can be registered. In this case, senior officers may come under the scanner of investigation.
