Jaipur : Food Safety Department team raided the cheese warehouse in Jaipur today. A large quantity of cheese stock was found here, which prima facie appeared to be adulterated. In view of this, the team destroyed 500 kg of cheese by taking samples from this stock. Additional Commissioner of Food Safety Department, Pankaj Ojha said – In view of the festival and Savo season, the government has launched a special campaign under ‘War on pure food adulteration’. Instructions have been given. Under this, this morning the central team raided a cheese warehouse in Galata Gate area in Jaipur. Central team members found a stock of 500 kg of cheese from this warehouse located at M/s Sharma Paneer Bhandar, Rishi Galav Nagar. At first glance visibility seemed poor. When the cheese was broken by hand, it was stretching like rubber. There was also a strange smell in it. On this basis, the team took samples of cheese and sent it to the central lab for testing. On seeing bad cheese, 500 kg of cheese stock was destroyed on the spot.
Used to sell cheese for Rs 180 per kg
Ojha told- During interrogation it came to light that this cheese is procured from Alwar area. In Jaipur, it is supplied to Galata Gate, Johri Bazaar and Ramganj areas. The owner of the Paneer Store told – He sells this cheese in the market at the rate of Rs 180 per kg. Whereas cheese of other brands including Saras is sold in the market at the rate of around Rs 300 per kg.
Demand increased in wedding ceremonies
Joint Commissioner of Food Safety Department, Dr. S.N. Dholpuria said- These days there is a huge demand for cheese in these cheeses. There are a large number of factories in the Alwar area. Here, sub-standard paneer is prepared from milk powder and supplied to Jaipur and surrounding districts.
