Islamabad, November 14 (IANS). 12 terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence based operations in Pakistan. Pakistan Army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement late on Wednesday that security forces carried out operations in south-west Balochistan province and north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A fierce gunbattle took place between security forces and “terrorists” during the operation in Kech district of Balochistan. According to Xinhua news agency report, four terrorists were killed.
Additionally, eight ‘terrorists’ were killed and six others injured after security forces effectively attacked their hideouts in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Security forces are carrying out operations to eliminate any terrorists in the areas.
Terrorism is becoming a big challenge for Pakistan. A total of 198 people were killed and 111 others were injured in separate terrorist attacks in the country during October. Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) gave this information on Saturday.
According to data released by PICSS, despite a slight decline in the number of terrorist attacks, ‘October’ has emerged as the second deadliest month of the year. The previous one was in August when 254 people were killed and 150 others were injured in such incidents.
Those killed included 89 terrorists, 62 security personnel and 38 civilians, while 56 civilians, 44 security personnel and 11 terrorists were injured in the attacks.
The think tank said the highest number of deaths were recorded last month among terrorists and security forces, with 81 percent of the deaths being combatants, Xinhua news agency reported.
PICSS data shows that terrorist attacks declined by 12 percent in October with 68 incidents, but the number of deaths increased by 77 percent compared to September.
