Dausa : Rajasthan Election Commission postponed the by-election of Ward No. 17 of the Municipal Council a few hours before the voting on Wednesday. Congress was furious over this and dozens of officials under the leadership of MP Murarilal Meena lodged their objection by submitting a memorandum to the District Collector.
Returning Officer Manish Kumar Jatav said that in compliance with the instructions of the State Election Commission, the public notice issued for the by-election for the member post of Ward No. 17 of Municipal Council Dausa in the month of August-September 2024 has been withdrawn with immediate effect. The by-election in the month of August-September 2024 has been postponed till further orders. It is worth noting that voting was to be held for the election of this ward on Thursday. The team had also reached to conduct the voting and the administration and political parties had also made preparations.

The sudden order to postpone the elections caused a stir. MP Murarilal Meena alleged that the BJP was strangling democracy. The BJP postponed the elections fearing forfeiture of its deposit.
