Alwar : Alwar The Supreme Court has issued important directions to resolve the problems of workers affected by the ban on construction activities in Rajasthan and other NCR states due to Group-4 restrictions. The court has said that no worker should be deprived of relief. The Supreme Court exempted Rajasthan Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant from appearing personally in this case. On behalf of the state, ACS Shreya Guha and Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma informed the court about the relief work of the government. Alwar and Bharatpur are among the most affected districts of the NCR region. Thousands of workers have been deprived of employment due to construction restrictions. However, the government has taken proactive steps to identify and provide assistance to all affected workers.
Supreme Court directive: Measures for unregistered workers: The Supreme Court has directed that a meeting should be organized between the concerned department of the state government and the labor union. The purpose of this meeting is to identify such construction workers in Alwar and Bharatpur districts who are not yet registered with the Rajasthan Labor Department. The court also said that these workers should be registered as soon as possible and after registration they should be given grep- 4 Compensation should be provided for the period of not being able to work due to restrictions.
plan ahead : The Supreme Court has directed to submit a detailed report on the progress of relief distribution and the results of joint efforts in the next hearing. This step is considered an important initiative towards striking a balance between environmental restrictions and workers’ welfare.
Fund Allocation: Rajasthan Labor Department has sanctioned Rs 2 crore for two districts of NCR region, Alwar and Bharatpur, with Rs 1 crore allotted to each district.
Identification of workers: Labor inspectors have identified 3,526 construction workers who have been affected by the restrictions. These include both skilled and unskilled workers.
Compensation Distribution: Rs 76.59 lakh has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 2,063 workers. This includes 1,753 workers from Alwar and 310 workers from Bharatpur.
Speed up the process: To provide relief to the remaining 1,400 workers, 10 additional labor inspectors have been appointed in Bharatpur district and one accounts officer each in both the districts.
