Bikaner News Desk: The biggest reason for jam on the common roads and markets of the city is the vehicles ranging from two-wheelers to four-wheelers parked on the road. Big showrooms are being opened but they do not make any arrangement for parking the vehicles of the customers coming to them. As a result, customers park their vehicles on the road and go to the showroom. Pedestrians behind and drivers of other vehicles passing by are troubled. This is the situation from the main market to the markets of newly developing colonies. While getting the map of a commercial establishment approved by the Municipal Corporation, parking is shown in the basement. But later the basement left for parking is converted into a commercial establishment. One of the reasons for the deteriorating traffic system of the city is the working style of the traffic police. Traffic policemen are deployed at intersections and places with high traffic load. The purpose of installing them is to remove obstacles in smooth traffic and to guide the drivers. But the traffic personnel remain focused on issuing challans throughout the day. Many times such scenes are seen that instead of clearing the traffic jam, the traffic police is seen busy issuing challans to the vehicles.
There is no control on three-wheeler taxis
More than thirty thousand three-wheeler taxis are registered in the district. More than ten thousand of these keep running on the roads of Bikaner city to carry passengers. Some three-wheeler taxi drivers do not follow traffic rules. Wherever they see a passenger, they stop by applying brakes. It is common to take a taxi and take a cut. Some minor boys are driving taxis. But the traffic police does not make any effort to check them and ensure that traffic rules are followed.
Soldiers standing as silent spectators
There is daily traffic jam at many places in the city including Phad Bazaar, KEM Road, Satta Bazaar, Joshiwada, near Sadul School, Police Line Square, Bhutto Ka Square, Sriganganagar Circle Point. The traffic police has not made any concrete plan to deal with this. At many places the road gets blocked due to parking of vehicles on the road. Although the traffic police has a crane. They also pick up vehicles and take them away. But it is not having any effect on the people. Traffic constables also act as mute spectators and watch the traffic jam.
Main Market Conditions
Roads are jammed all the time in Towalsar Bhairunji’s street, Babuji’s Katla, Labhuji’s Katla, Phadbazar, Chudi Bazaar, Modern Market. In the markets, shine boards and goods of shopkeepers are kept on the footpath. The remaining work can be done by parking the vehicle. The administration should take this suffering of the common people seriously.
