Biggest victory in the history of Maharashtra: Saroj Ahire

Mumbai, November 24 (IANS). Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Saroj Ahire met party chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday. Speaking to IANS after the meeting, he responded to the Maharashtra Assembly elections and other issues.

On the results of Maharashtra Assembly elections, he has said that this is the biggest victory in the history of Maharashtra. There has been immense support from the public, for which “I want to thank them”.

Asked if he had ever thought that Mahayuti would cross the 200 mark, the NCP leader said he had not expected so many seats. But, everything is in the hands of the public and the public has given its verdict. The results of Maharashtra elections have shown whose side the people are with.

On the statement of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, Saroj Ahire said, “When we won seats in Maharashtra during the Lok Sabha elections, the EVMs were fine. Today the people of Maharashtra have given us the majority, so there is a glitch in the EVMs.” If they had won more seats, perhaps we should have faith in the election process.”

Did ‘Ladli Behan Yojana’ play the role of X factor in Maharashtra elections? On this, the NCP leader has said that the ‘Mahayuti’ government has given the poor women their rights and the public has revealed its result yesterday.

On his meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the NCP leader said, “I have thanked him. Had dinner together.”

NCP (SP) has got 10 seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections. On this the NCP leader said, “I am not old enough to comment on this. We have won, we are celebrating. There are wins and losses in elections but no one should be humiliated.”

When asked who will be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the NCP leader said that this will be decided by a meeting of the top leaders of the political parties involved in the ‘Mahayuti’. If you ask my party, I will take the name of Ajit Pawar.
