Bikaner : Bikaner Drug smuggling is at its peak in the districts bordering Pakistan. Drug addiction has reached the border from Pakistan and from the border to the cities. The youth is badly under the influence of drugs. He is getting involved in crime at an early age. The surprising thing is that now instead of poppy seeds, expensive and instantly intoxicating drugs are in more demand. Smugglers are keeping their eye on this too. With the increase in demand, smugglers have intensified smuggling as per the demand. Every year, large quantities of this expensive and dangerous drug are being transported. If we look at the data of last three years in Bikaner range, 147 kg 952 grams of heroin has been seized. Its market value is estimated to be around Rs 200 crore.
49.967 kg caught last year, 71.297 kg seized this year
26 kg 688 grams of heroin has been seized in the year 2022, 49.967 grams in the year 2023 and 71 kg 297 grams of heroin has been seized so far this year. Every year both the cases and quantity of heroin trafficking are increasing. There were seven cases of drone drugs dropping in the year 2022. 15 cases have been reported in the year 2023 and 19 cases have been reported this year. The biggest reason for smuggling is that the international border is 396 kilometers in the Bikaner range. Out of this, 90 km border is of Sri Ganganagar, 164 km border of Anupgarh and 142 km border of Bikaner district. It also adjoins Bahawalpur area of Pakistan. Most of the drugs come from Pakistan.
Bikaner Police in contact with Punjab-Haryana Police
Bikaner Range Police is alert about drug smuggling through drones in the border areas of Pakistan and Punjab. Bikaner Range Police is in touch with Punjab and Haryana Police. Police are investigating where the heroin is coming from and where and to whom it is going. Bikaner Range Police Inspector General Omprakash has also issued a supervisory note to the police officers of the four districts.
