Bikaner : Bikaner The climate of the city has now started deteriorating. There is definitely an impact of stubble burning in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana. Some local factors are also increasing the level of air pollution. The pollution level figures revealed just a day ago have raised alarm bells. In this, pollution measuring instruments in JNVC and Vallabh Garden area recorded pollution level (AQI) of 301 and 304. Bikaner district was considered the best in terms of air quality till a few years ago. Except for the white clay of Kolayat and the gypsum mining area of Khajuwala-Pugal, the air quality in the rest of the district was fine. Along with Khejri and trees and plants, the love of the people here for nature also kept the air quality better. Now, with the gradual expansion of the city, trees have been cut from nearby fields and houses have been built. Green belt space is not being left in the newly developing colonies. The number of parks in the city can be counted on fingers. Along with all this, the continuous increase in the number of vehicles is increasing pollution.
No control on vehicle pollution
Dirty and old vehicles run gallop in the city without pollution certificates. The number of diesel vehicles is high. It is mandatory for vehicles to get pollution checked. But it is not hidden from anyone how the vehicle is tested while issuing the pollution certificate. Along with this, the transport department does not take action against buses and trucks without fitness check and increasing pollution. Due to this, vehicles have contributed the most in increasing pollution in Bikaner.
Four highways, broken roads and flying dust
Four national highways pass through Bikaner city. Bypasses have been built for heavy vehicles, but trucks and trolleys filled with gravel and gypsum pass through the city from one highway to another. Most of the gravel dumpers pass on Jaisalmer road between 9 pm to 11 pm. Vehicles from Sri Ganganagar, Jaipur and Jodhpur highways also pass through the city. Heavy vehicles mostly run on diesel. Which is the biggest cause of pollution. Along with this, clouds of dust keep rising on the broken roads.
alarm bell for students
Most of the big educational institutions in Bikaner are on Jaipur road. Air pollution levels remain low in Jaipur Marg and nearby JNVC Colony. In such a situation, pollution is directly affecting the lungs of thousands of school students. The largest Government Dungar College of the division also falls in this area. Apart from this, being a posh colony, JNVC has the highest number of coaching centers.
industrial area seghira city
There are industrial areas on three sides of Bikaner. For example, there is Beechwala and Khara industrial area on Sriganganagar road. From where pollution originates. Gajner industrial area is on Jaisalmer road. Rani Bazar Industrial Area is on Jodhpur-Nagaur road. Along with this, industries are established till Palana. Brick kilns are installed in Khajuwala area. Even in these, Guna is burnt despite the ban on burning. Smoke keeps coming out from POP factories day and night due to burning of wood.
Most pollution due to increase in surface ozone
The major cause of pollution in Bikaner city and surrounding areas is increase in particulate matter and surface ozone. These are fine particles of dust, carbon, smoke and metals, which float in the form of aerosols in the air and moisture. The Pollution Control Department measures particulate matter less than 10 micrometers (PM 10) and less than 2.5 micrometers (PM 2.5). Along with this, the major cause of pollution has come to the fore in the form of increase in ozone. Pure ozone is produced by the chemical reaction of ultraviolet radiation from the sun with organic matter emitted from vehicle and industrial smoke.
