According to Shiv Kumar Sharma, programmer of cyber police station, digital arrest is an advanced method of cyber crime. In digital arrest, a cyber thug takes people hostage in their own homes through video calls. First of all the thug pretends to be a police officer and makes a video call. He says that Aadhar card, SIM card, bank account have been used for some illegal activities. After this the ‘game’ of intimidation begins. During this time, the criminal neither allows the other person to leave the video call nor allows anyone to make the call.
