Bikaner : Heroin smuggling and cyber activities from Pakistan are continuously increasing in Bikaner district. In comparison, there has been no increase in border posts and resources of intelligence. The posts closed after fencing and the proposals sent to the police headquarters for opening new ones have also been put on hold. Bikaner district has about 170 km border with Pakistan border. Pakistani smugglers have targeted this area to carry out heroin smuggling and cyber activities. Heroin worth crores of rupees is being dropped into the Indian border through drones. Pak intelligence agency ISI has already been active here, now smuggling and cyber attacks have also made the district more sensitive.
Despite this, no increase is being made in the border posts of Intelligence. Rather, the BI posts are in a dilapidated condition. Neither the staff nor the resources are complete. The situation is such that the intelligence posts do not have a single four wheeler to monitor the 170 km international border. Bikes have been given only to Khajuwala and Bajju BIs, which is not enough. At present there are BIs in Khajuwala, Ranjitpura, Dantaur, Chhattargarh, Bajju, Lunkaransar in the district. Of these, Ranjitpura and Dantaur BIs are being run temporarily. Along with these two, proposals to start BI in Pugal were sent to PHQ on which no decision was taken. It is noteworthy that the border of Khajuwala, Ranjitpura and Dantaur is directly adjacent to the Pakistan border.
How much staff on which BI post?
Chhattargarh – The post of SI is lying vacant. There are two ASIs. There is no head constable and instead of one post of constable, two have been appointed.
Khajuwala – There is one SI, one of two ASIs, one head constable and one constable.
Lunkaransar – The post of SI is vacant. Two constables are deployed in place of two ASIs, one head constable and one constable.
Bajju – Not SI. One of the two is ASI. There is one head constable and one constable.
Dantaur – One SI, one head constable and one constable are employed.
Ranjitpura – There is only one ASI.
Proposals to start BI posts went to PHQ from all four districts
At present, due to the rapid increase in heroin and other drug smuggling, drone and cyber activities in the Rajasthan border districts from Pakistan side, all four border districts have sent proposals for previously closed and new posts to PHQ. In these, the need for Ranjitpura, Pugal and Dantaur BI posts of Bikaner was expressed. In view of the movement of suspicious people in these areas, the movement of people taking delivery of heroin and Pakistan’s contact with the people on the Indian border through phone and WhatsApp, the reason given was to make them alert and aware.
“Police stations and outposts in the border area have been asked to remain alert. In view of heroin smuggling from the Pakistan border, they are working in coordination with BSF and Intelligence. Through Police-Public Panchayat, the villagers of the border area are also being informed about the suspicious people. Awareness is being created to keep an eye on and report any undesirable activity to the police.”

SI in-charge instead of inspector in border police stations
Khajuwala, Dantaur and Ranjitpura are the three police stations of the border area. But, instead of Inspector, SI is in charge. SI Balwant Kumar has been appointed in-charge of Khajuwala, Bhajanlal in Dantaur and Chandrajit Singh in Ranjitpura. Whereas, according to the orders issued by the government, there should be inspector rank in-charge.
