Bikaner Patel Nagar culvert built at a cost of Rs 2.93 crores got cracks in just one year

Bikaner : Bikaner Patel Nagar culvert built a year ago at a cost of Rs 2.93 crore has developed cracks due to the negligence of the contractor and officials. The slab has sunk 4 inches. Water is flowing continuously due to breaks in the sewer line passing beneath it at many places. Due to which the walls have become weak. There is a danger of the culvert collapsing. Local people have described the poor construction and negligence of the administration as an open invitation for an accident. Despite this, the administration did not bother to stop the movement of heavy vehicles from here. Local residents allege that substandard materials were used in both the sewer line and culvert during the construction work, the results of which are now visible. Sewer lines have also been broken at many places. Recently, a truck filled with bricks had sunk on top of the sewer line. Due to which the pipeline got damaged. After this, the dirty sewer water is being bypassed and released into another line. Instead of taking responsibility, the Municipal Corporation and UIT engineers are at loggerheads in this matter. Jamming of sewer line is also a reason for the problem and not taking care of the old sewer line at the time of construction worth Rs. 3 crore is also a big negligence.

How did the sewer line break?

It may be a matter of investigation whether the sewer line broke due to overloaded truck or the truck got stuck in the broken sewer line. Right now the truth is that the sewer lines passing under the bridge are also broken at many places. People have also seen that a truck full of bricks had sunk over the sewer line. Now the dirty sewer water is being bypassed and released into another line, due to which a terrible smell is spreading in the area. Local resident Ramnivas Chaudhary said, “It has become difficult for people to live here due to the poor condition of the sewer line and the damaged bridge. Administration officials have not even come to take stock of the situation.”

People bearing the brunt of poor construction

At the time of construction of the culvert, the contractor ignored the parameters and the authorities ignored it and approved it. Now the situation is such that the sewer line passing under the bridge can break and fall at any time. The movement of heavy vehicles continues on the bridge, due to which the risk of collapse of the culvert has further increased. Local resident Bhairu Ratan said, “The sewer line here is broken at 8-10 places. Despite informing the administration several times, no action was taken.”

Road construction is also incomplete and there is danger everywhere.

Due to the poor condition of culverts and sewer lines, the road is also broken at many places. Former councilor Bhagwati Prasad Gaur said that questions were raised on the quality of construction during the laying of sewerage. He had warned the contractor and the administration, but the officials ignored it. The result is that both roads and bridges can now become the cause of accidents. “There is no reason for poor quality of culverts. The root cause is sewerage. Sewerage water went into the hole of the culvert. Because of that this situation has arisen. We The Municipal Corporation has also been informed about this. After that, if there are any cracks then they will fill the sewerage. It is damaged by a tender. No. The sewerage will be repaired by the same firm which is working on it. The corporation has nothing to do with it.
