New Delhi, November 18 (IANS). The excitement regarding the upcoming assembly elections has started intensifying in Delhi. BJP, which has been out of power for many decades, is hopeful that this time the people are going to bloom in Delhi.
The Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in power for the last 10 years, is confident of its actions that it will return to power in Delhi with an absolute majority. Arvind Kejriwal will be the chief ministerial face of the party. However, who will be the chief ministerial face from BJP is not decided yet. But, BJP has intensified preparations to weaken the Aam Aadmi Party. The most special seat in this is that of New Delhi Assembly. Arvind Kejriwal has been continuously winning from this seat. Kejriwal has won the elections from this seat in the years 2013, 2015 and 2020.
It is worth noting that in 2014 and 2019, the Lok Sabha seat of New Delhi came into the account of BJP. But, when the assembly elections were held on this seat, the BJP candidate could not stand in front of Kejriwal.
BJP had fielded Nupur Sharma against Kejriwal in 2015 and Sunil Kumar Yadav in the 2020 elections. But, both times Kejriwal managed to win.
It is being said that Kejriwal will once again contest the assembly elections from his reserved seat New Delhi. If this happens, he will contest from this seat for the fourth time. Where Kejriwal will be in the field to hit a four of victory. At the same time, BJP would like to defeat Kejriwal on this seat. For this, BJP is preparing to field a strong candidate.
A section of the BJP wants former Union Minister Smriti Irani to be fielded in the assembly elections against Kejriwal. At the same time, Bansuri Swaraj, who will win the Lok Sabha elections from New Delhi in 2024, is also an option for BJP. Bansuri Swaraj has a lot of influence among the youth and women and she has also been attacking the Aam Aadmi Party on various issues in Delhi. Apart from this, BJP can also field Manoj Tiwari, who has won the Lok Sabha elections thrice, in front of Kejriwal.
It is also being said that the MPs whose tickets were canceled during the Lok Sabha elections will be given tickets in the Assembly elections 2025.
