Jaipur : Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda said in the Rajya Sabha that a study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has made it clear that Covid vaccination does not increase the risk of sudden death in young adults. On the contrary, vaccination has reduced this risk. He has given this information in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
“This risk is reduced by taking one dose.”
Nadda said that the risk of sudden death may increase due to Covid-19, family history and some lifestyle habits. However, taking one dose of Covid vaccine reduces this risk and taking two doses reduces it further.
The study was conducted last year
He said that this study was conducted in 47 hospitals in 19 states and union territories between May and August last year. This included 729 sudden death cases and 2,916 controls. The study found that vaccination helps reduce the chances of sudden death. Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel informed that a particular batch of some medicines of Metronidazole and Paracetamol were found to be of “non-standard quality”. These medicines were manufactured by Hindustan Antibiotic Limited and Karnataka Antibiotic and Pharmaceuticals Limited. The stock has been recalled and new stock has been sent in its place.
