BJP creates divisions in families for political gains: Tej Pratap Yadav (Interview)

Mainpuri, 15 November (IANS). Samajwadi Party has dominated the Karhal assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh for a long time. To save his stronghold in the by-elections, party chief Akhilesh Yadav has fielded his nephew, former MP Tej Pratap Yadav. Whereas BJP has fielded uncle Dharmendra Yadav’s brother-in-law Anujesh Yadav from this seat. In such a situation, the political fight has become quite exciting. Former MP Tej Pratap Yadav has said in a conversation with IANS that BJP creates divisions in families for political gains. Presented are excerpts from the conversation with him.

Question: What will be the main issue of Karhal Assembly?

Answer: Ever since the BJP government came, no work has been done in Karhal. This area has received step-motherly treatment. This is a SP district, hence no government scheme came here. False cases have been filed against backward people and Dalits, farmers have been harassed. People are very upset with BJP. The time has come for them to answer.

Question: You have been an MP here. What development works are incomplete here and now?

Answer: Development is a continuous process. Whatever is done, it remains less. The roads built in 2016-17 have not been repaired yet. Many services did not start in hospitals. Sainik School and Engineering College have somehow started functioning. The condition of the district hospital is also bad. Many things need improvement. When our government is formed, we will start many schemes for this sector. Will also provide employment.

Question: BJP has fielded your uncle against you. How do you see it?

Answer: BJP contacted many people. When no candidate was ready, he was fielded only to create divisions in the family. BJP has had a habit of first making people fight in the name of religion, then dividing castes and now it is creating divisions in families. In Maharashtra, first NCP and then Shiv Sena were divided. BJP has an old policy of creating divisions in families.

Question: BJP has fielded Yadav candidate. Will it make any difference to SP?

Answer: There have been many elections in the past also, in which Yadav candidates have contested. There will be no difference in SP’s vote bank. Rather, by contesting their elections, our estranged friends are openly campaigning. A big change will be seen in the results.

Question: What would you say about “Wherever SP is seen, daughter gets scared”?

Answer: The government is of BJP. It is the government’s job to punish criminals. Many big leaders of BJP have been involved in crimes like Kuldeep Sengar and Nityananda, whom the Chief Minister has worked to save. If we look at the data of NCRB, UP is lagging behind in the matter of women safety. Women are not safe in rural areas including the capital Lucknow.

Question: During the by-elections, the posters of BJP and SP have slogans like ‘Bantenge-Katenge, Jantagene-Surakshit Rahenge’. What’s your opinion?

Answer: BJP does politics of division. These people want to create fear among people with such slogans. SP’s slogan ‘If we join we will win’ is right. SP has connected the last person of the society with politics, that is why people from every section are coming forward in politics.

Question: BJP alleges that SP talks about PDA, but tickets are given only to the family?

Answer: There are 403 assembly seats in UP and only one member of the family is in the assembly. Even if there are two people, it will still be less than one percent. BJP is scared of PDA. People have confidence in PDA in the by-elections. BJP claims that SP gave jobs only to Yadav class. This government is anti-Dalit and anti-backward. People are mobilizing against this. BJP seems to be losing power from its hands. Because of this they are nervous. Release the data of how many backward people have been given employment by the government in the last eight years.

69 thousand teachers are not giving reservation in recruitment and teachers have been agitating for many years. No matter what he says from the stage, people have understood his intentions.
