Jaipur : Concrete action will be taken to remove encroachment from temple lands in Rajasthan. Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat gave this information in the state assembly on Thursday. He said that the Devasthan Department will take concrete action to remove encroachment from temple lands with the cooperation of the district administration. He said that despite various problems, the department has continuously taken action to take possession of Devasthan lands from encroachers. The department has taken possession of 7.44 hectares of land from 44 encroachers. Kumawat said this while answering the question raised by Ladpura MLA Kalpana Devi through an attention motion during the zero hour.
263 cases are pending in the court
He informed that the Devsthan Department takes action from time to time to remove encroachment from temples and temple land. Out of the total 7294 hectares of temple land, 2768 hectares of land is occupied by 1773 encroachers, against whom 263 cases are pending in the court. The Devsthan Minister informed that when information about encroachment on temple land is brought to the notice by the priest and the Patwari, the concerned Tehsildar takes appropriate action against the encroachers. The District Magistrate regularly receives encroachment reports related to idol temple land from the revenue personnel and registers cases as per the Rajasthan Land Revenue Act, 1956 and controls them effectively accordingly.
Action will be taken against encroachers
He informed that as per the instructions of the review meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, a letter was written to all the District Collectors to take action against the encroachers of the agricultural land of the department as per the Land Revenue Act, 1956 and other revenue rules. Also, a semi-official letter was written to the Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate on behalf of the Devsthan Department Commissioner. The Devsthan Minister assured the House that the Devsthan Department is making continuous efforts to protect the temple lands along with taking action against the encroachers on the agricultural land of temples.
