Two consumers get different amounts

BJP MLA from Nasirabad, Ramswaroop Lamba, moved a calling attention motion in the assembly under Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Procedure Rule 131. It was told that Geeta Devi, Sheela and Pushpa Rawat, residents of Nasirabad assembly constituency, village Nayagaon Kasya Gram Panchayat Rajgarh Tehsil Nasirabad applied for domestic electricity connection. Demand letters of different amounts were issued by the discom on the same day, 27 April 2024. In which the amount in Geeta Devi’s demand letter was Rs 55 thousand 802 and the amount in the demand letter of other consumers Sheela and Pushpa Rawat was Rs 2 thousand 800 – Rs 2 thousand 800. Whereas domestic connection was to be given to all the applicants under the rules.

After this, new demand letters were issued on 29 April 2024. In which everyone was asked to deposit the same amount of Rs 7,300. Did the rules change in just two days or was there an intention to hang the connections and commit corruption by giving unnecessary mental agony to the applicants? From which it seems that the departmental officers / employees are careless about their work and are promoting corruption by harassing the consumers by working arbitrarily. Action should be taken against the officers after getting it investigated. Through the proposal, the MLA also requested the Energy Minister that all the orders of the Discom should be issued in Hindi.

Two separate demand letters were issued by the discom - one was for Rs 55,802 and the other for Rs 2,800.

Discom gave this answer….

Recently on 4th July 2024, on the proposal put forward by the MLA, the Discom replied that Geeta Devi wife Jagdish, Sheela Devi wife Satyanarayan and Pushpa Devi wife Sohan Singh had applied for domestic connection, for which demand letters were issued. But later all the three applicants submitted an application and requested to issue a demand letter in the Vidyut Samuh Yojana. In this scheme, as per the rules, a demand letter of Rs 7 thousand 300 was issued to each applicant.
