New Delhi, November 22 (IANS). BJP National President JP Nadda expressed a strong reaction to the recent letter written by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to President Draupadi Murmu on Manipur violence. Nadda wrote a letter to Kharge alleging that Congress is doing politics on Manipur crisis.
BJP President JP Nadda, while saluting Congress President Kharge, wrote that earlier this year, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was talking on the issue of violence in Manipur, the way you and your party came out of the House and raised this serious issue. Ignored, that was shocking to me. Now when you have written a letter to the President on Manipur, it is good to see that your party has expressed respect for the highest office of the Indian Constitution and President Draupadi Murmu.
Nadda hit out at the Congress by reminding it of the failures of the Congress governments in Manipur and other north-eastern states, especially during the 1990s and the UPA regime. He said that the results of the failures of the Congress governments are being seen even today in Manipur. In the last 10 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, our North-Eastern region has seen a complete transformation in every sector. Be it economic development, security, health, education or access to development opportunities. The entire North-Eastern region including Manipur is experiencing peace, prosperity and progress for the first time since independence.
Accusing Congress of taking political advantage of Manipur’s problems, he said that Congress had given rise to the period of violence and instability in Manipur in the 90s. In 2011, Manipur was under complete internal blockade for 120 days. Petrol and LPG prices were four times higher than the rest of the country and crores of rupees were being lost every day. The Congress government at that time did not even try to raise the issue at the Centre, while the state administration was involved in thousands of fake encounters. In contrast, the BJP government took prompt steps to handle the situation after the first incident of violence in Manipur. He said that both the Central and State governments worked together to immediately control the situation of violence and ensure the safety of the people.
JP Nadda also launched a scathing attack on Congress over legalizing illegal immigration of foreign militants into Manipur and agreements with them. He said that your government violated Indian security protocols and made agreements with foreign militants. This is why violent extremist organizations are trying to disturb peace in Manipur and other areas.
At the end of his letter, Nadda accused Congress of trying to stop India’s progress in collaboration with foreign powers. He said that this strategy of Congress could be part of a deep conspiracy to stop the progress of the country and we have the right to know why and how this is happening.
