BJP will protest in front of DC offices across Karnataka

Bengaluru, November 16 (IANS). BJP state general secretary Pritam Gowda on Saturday said protests would be held in front of deputy commissioners’ offices (DC offices) across Karnataka on November 21 or 22 demanding resolution of issues related to Waqf properties.

“Thousands of affected persons and farmers will be invited on the platform throughout the day to present their grievances. We will review the seriousness of the issues district-wise,” he said during a press conference at the state BJP office in Bengaluru.

State BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has already announced three teams to address these concerns.

One team will be led by Vijayendra himself while the other two will be led by Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalawadi Narayanaswamy.

These teams will go to the districts to listen to the grievances of farmers, religious institutions and the public and their findings will be discussed in the upcoming Belagavi Assembly session.

Each team included three Union ministers, including former Chief Minister D.V. Senior leaders like Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai and other prominent leaders will attend.

These teams will visit at least 8-10 districts, understand the issues and highlight the real problems in the assembly.

He said the tours would begin in the first week of December. During the Belagavi winter session, a huge protest of 50-60 thousand people including farmers will be organized under the leadership of the state president.

Pritam Gowda said that issues related to Waqf properties are being heard at the district, Hobli and Panchayat levels. Awareness is being created among farmers about new controversies and challenges.

A systematic plan has been developed under the leadership of State President Vijayendra to find a logical solution to the statewide Waqf property issues. Five-member teams, including lawyers, have been formed in every district to assist in the legal fight.

BJP leader Pritam Gowda said that these teams will work to create public awareness under the theme ‘Our Land-Our Rights’ by meeting prominent personalities including religious leaders in every district.

He clarified that there is no confusion in the party regarding this matter. Senior BJP leader and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal will also be part of these efforts.

He said, “Our aim is to ensure that farmers, religious institutions and the general public do not face problems due to Waqf-related issues. We will all work together to find a logical solution.”

He also said that grassroots level workers of the party are also involved in this movement. Current and former MPs and MLAs will actively participate in this protest.

Regarding the results of the three by-elections, Pritam Gowda expressed confidence in the victory of the NDA alliance. He said that Nikhil Kumaraswamy is expected to win from Channapatna by a margin of 25-30 thousand votes.
