BJP wins three out of five seats in Assam, know the condition of Sikkim and Meghalaya

New Delhi, November 23 (IANS). The results of by-elections held on five seats in Assam, one in Meghalaya and two in Sikkim have been revealed. BJP has won three seats in Assam, Dholai, Samaguri and Behali, while one seat has gone to United People’s Party Liberal and one seat to Assam Gana Parishad.

National People’s Party has won the Gambegare seat of Meghalaya. Whereas the candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha have won two seats of Sikkim, Soreng-Chakung and Namchi-Singhithang.

BJP’s Nihar Ranjan Das has won the Dholai seat of Assam. The BJP candidate has defeated Dhrubjyoti Purkayastha of the Indian National Congress by a margin of 9098 votes. Das got 69945 votes and Purkayastha got 60847 votes.

BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sharma has won the Samaguri seat. He has defeated Congress candidate Tanjil Hussain by a huge margin. Whereas BJP candidate Diganta Ghatowal has won the Behali seat. He has defeated Jayant Bohra of Congress by a margin of 9051 votes. The BJP candidate got a total of 50947 votes and the Congress candidate got a total of 41896 votes.

Whereas Deeptimayi Chaudhary of Assam Gana Parishad has won the Bongaigaon seat of Assam. He has defeated Congress candidate Brajenjit Singh by a huge margin of 35164 votes. Whereas on Sidley seat, United People’s Party Liberal candidate Nirmal Kumar Brahma has defeated Bodoland People’s Front candidate Shudho Kumar Basumatari by a margin of 37016 votes.

At the same time, both the candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha have won unopposed on Soreng-Chakung and Namchi-Singhithang seats of Sikkim. Aditya Gole (Tamang) has won on Soreng-Chakung seat and Satish Chandra Rai has won unopposed on Namchi-Singhithang seat.

In Gambegare seat of Meghalaya, National People’s Party candidate Mehtab Chandy Agitok Sangma has defeated All India Trinamool Congress candidate Sadiyarani M. Sangma by a margin of 4594 votes. The All India Trinamool Congress candidate has got a total of 8084 votes, while the National People’s Party candidate has got a total of 12678 votes.
