Jaipur : There is huge turmoil in Rajasthan after the crushing defeat of Congress in the by-elections of 7 assembly seats. The post-mortem of the reasons for the defeat has started within the Congress. It is believed that the main reason for the defeat is the dependence on MPs in ticket distribution and not contesting elections in alliance. A report on the defeat is being prepared at the party level, which will be sent to the high command. It is also being said that after the victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress took this election lightly.
“The meeting held in Jaipur on ticket distribution proved to be in vain”
Congress leaders say that in the first meeting held to discuss the names for ticket distribution, Rajasthan Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had emphasized that Congress had performed well in the Lok Sabha elections. The leaders who have become MLAs and MPs have played a big role. Therefore, ticket distribution should be left to the MPs only. This was the reason that the meeting held in Jaipur regarding ticket distribution proved to be merely a mere fulfillment.
No interest shown on feedback in ticket distribution
In the meeting held by Sachin Pilot at Haryana Bhawan in Delhi before the ticket distribution, information was also revealed that the in-charge was not showing any interest in the feedback on ticket distribution. After this, Congress gave ticket to new leader KC Meena on the recommendation of Amit Ola, son of Brijendra Ola, who became MP in Jhunjhunu, Harish Meena, who became MP in Devli Uniara, and DC Bairwa was given ticket in Dausa on the recommendation of Murarilal Meena. Whereas, due to the sympathy card on the seat of Ramgarh, which was vacant due to the death of Zubair Khan, no name other than his son Aryan Khan was considered. Out of seven seats, Congress has been able to win only Dosa seat by a small margin.
Nepotism and ignoring local workers are the major reasons for the defeat.
Congress has had to pay the price of this big defeat due to the recommendations of MPs, nepotism and ignoring local workers. Due to the inactivity of the Congress think tank, no serious effort was made to convince the leaders who were angry with the Congress. Apart from these four seats, Congress gave the ticket to Sawai Singh’s wife Dr. Ratan at the last moment to defeat Hanuman Beniwal in Khinvsar seat. What has happened to Congress on this seat is in front of everyone. Congress has no expectations from Chaurasi and Salumber seats, hence no one is surprised at the result.
Congress will have to get rid of inactive leaders
There is an atmosphere of disappointment among the workers due to this defeat of Congress, which was in power in Rajasthan 11 months ago and won eight Lok Sabha seats five months ago. In such a situation, preparations have been made to hold civic and panchayat elections together next year. If it wants to perform better in front of the BJP government, then Rajasthan Congress will have to get rid of inactive leaders along with the need for a full-time in-charge.
