Banswara : Health Department is organizing Saans campaign in the district to create awareness about pneumonia and its complications in children aged 0 to 5 years. This campaign will be conducted starting from World Pneumonia Day on 12th November till 28th February 2025.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. HL Tabiyar said that under the Sans campaign, screening of all children aged 0 to 5 years for pneumonia, pneumonia skill lab training to medical officers and nursing officers, display of promotional material at medical institutions, necessary Orientation will be given on availability of medicines, identification of symptoms and management of pneumonia.
RCHO Dr. Dinesh Kumar Bhabor said that this year’s theme of the campaign has been kept right, if not pneumonia, then childhood. He said that by adopting the main component of the campaign, PPT i.e. Prevent, Protect and Treat strategy, it will be ensured to administer all three doses of pentavalent and PCV vaccine. Besides, beds are being reserved for children suffering from pneumonia in PHC, CHC and district hospitals.
Treatment of pneumonia and severe pneumonia is being provided as per protocol. Besides, through regular visits by ASHAs at the community level, children will be identified on the basis of symptoms like cough, phlegm, fast breathing, moving ribs and difficulty in breathing etc. Referral will also be done. Apart from this, publicity material related to pneumonia will also be distributed at the medical institutions of the district. Public awareness messages related to pneumonia will also be broadcasted on the social media pages of the Medical Department, X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, CMHO Banswara.
