Barmer : BSF jawan posted on India-Pakistan International Border died after being shot. Hearing the sound of firing, other soldiers present nearby came running. The incident took place on Friday morning at Bakhasar Jat ka Bera (JKB) check post in Barmer district.
According to the information – Shankarlal Gurjar (52), resident of Neemkathana, was posted as head constable in 83 battalion of BSF in Barmer. On Friday morning, he was getting ready for duty near the border fencing.
While getting ready at the check post at around 7 o’clock, the trigger of the rifle got pressed. Due to which the bullet hit him below his chin and he died on the spot. Shankarlal was working in Barmer since August 2020. He was a resident of Narlot village of Thoi in Neemkathana district.
On receiving information about the incident, Bakhasar police reached the spot at 10 o’clock. Chauhtan DSP Jeevan Lal and Bakhasar police station officer Vishan Singh inspected the spot. FSL team was called to collect evidence. After this, in the evening the body was kept in the mortuary of Government Hospital of Barmer. Head Constable Indraram told – BSF officers told during interrogation that the soldier got shot and died due to sudden pressing of the trigger of the rifle.
