Bikaner News Desk: The government has also turned a blind eye to the broken roads in the limits of Bikaner Municipal Corporation. The previous government had given Rs 18.50 crore from LSG for the city roads. The new government did not give a single rupee of LSG quota amount of Rs 500 crore to the Municipal Corporation. Of all the municipal corporations across the state, only Bharatpur, Pali and Alwar have been given the LSG quota budget. Actually, the government gives money from the LSG quota to repair broken roads in the civic areas. If municipal corporations do not have much money then this quota is very helpful. This year, the UDH department did not give LSG quota to the municipal corporations of big divisional headquarters like Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur.
Among the municipal corporations, apart from Bharatpur, the home district of the Chief Minister, only Pali and Alwar Municipal Corporation got LSG quota. Out of the quota of Rs 500 crore fixed by the government, Rs 87.11 crore was spent separately in 13 urban bodies. Apart from this, Rs 95.19 crore spent in the last financial year were deducted. Out of the remaining Rs 317 crore, Rs 5 crore each were given to Bharatpur, Pali Corporation and Rs 2.5 crore was given to Alwar. 52 municipal councils of the state have been given Rs 2 crore each, 175 municipalities have been given Rs 1 crore each and 65 new municipalities have been given Rs 40 lakh each.
Rs 18.50 crore were received last year
Last year, for LSG roads, the PWD department had sent proposals to build 61 km road for Bikaner for Rs 20 crore. Later, the proposal to build only 50 km of road for Rs 18.50 crore was sent back. However, according to the survey, Rs 45 crore was required, but the government gave only Rs 18.50 crore. However, at that time there was political pressure on the administration to include more roads in the West Assembly. Due to that reason the matter was pending for a few days. This time Nokha, Sridungargarh, Deshonk and Khajuwala got Rs 1 crore each, Napasar and Lunkaransar municipalities got Rs 40 lakh each.
On one hand, the government did not give money from LSG quota to the Municipal Corporation this year. On the other hand, there are 1064 roads of the Municipal Corporation which are either unpaved or in a state of complete reconstruction. Roads around the city including Gangashahr, Bhinsar and within the mohallas and colonies are in bad condition. According to an estimate, Rs 100 crore is needed to repair 1064 roads. Questions are being raised that if the government can give Rs 100 crore for sewerage, then why is this amount not being arranged for the city roads. As against the demand of Rs 100 crore, the Municipal Corporation is getting the patchwork done with Rs 3 crore. Due to which about 13 km of roads have been patchworked. One crore rupees have been kept for drains etc. That means, out of Rs 100 crore, work worth only Rs 4 crore will be done.
File pending worth Rs 8-8 crore
CM had sanctioned Rs 8 crore for roads on the demand of MLA Jethanand Vyas, but till now even that has not been received. Meanwhile, due to a controversy, Bikaner East MLA Siddhi Kumari also sent a proposal of Rs 8 crore for Bikaner East Assembly to PWD Minister Diya Kumari. Proposals have been made but the PWD Minister could not take any decision on it. This is the reason why that amount has also not arrived yet.
