That’s why the birth anniversary of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta
Actually, many scriptures are recognized among Hindus, among which Vedas, Puranas, Valmiki Ramayana, Ramcharita and Mahabharata etc. are prominent. Among all these, only Geeta’s birth anniversary is celebrated. The reason for this is that except Geeta, all other scriptures have been written by some sage, but it is only Geeta which has been preached by Lord Shri Krishna himself. Therefore, compared to other scriptures, Geeta has special importance and its birth anniversary is celebrated. Mokshada Ekadashi fast is also observed on the day of Geeta Jayanti.
When is Geeta Jayanti celebrated?
Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is a part of Mahabharata. When the armies of Kauravas and Pandavas stood face to face for war, Arjun felt sad after seeing his relatives. In that situation Lord Shri Krishna preached Geeta to Arjun and inspired him to do his work. That day was the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. Even today the festival of Geeta Jayanti is celebrated on this date.
